Hi,

I have three payday loans out currently. OneClickCash, DJR Group and AdvanceMeToday. OneClick and DJR were taken out back in April and May and Ive had to roll them over every payday because I ran short paying other bills. Fast forward to today, Im still trying to get to pay the principal of these loans and have since paid OneClick $1,075 on a $500 loan and DJR $1,000 on a $390 loan. Im finding it tough to make ends meet and can no longer afford to pay these people any more. None of the amounts debited through my bank have gone to the principal at all. Should I close my bank account so they cant take any more money out of my account? After searching these pages, Im just not sure if I have a leg to stand on by closing my checking account. Can someone please help! Thank you!!

first i'll start by saying no pdl is legal in NY especially the three you mentioned.that being said you only owe the principle and anything in "fees"debited gets deducted from that.what that means for you is you overpaid these by a bunch, but the pdl's will debit forever if allowed.go to the sticky at the top of this forum titled DEALING WITH ILLEGAL LENDERS.follow it and don't skip steps.the first being to close your current account and open a new one.go to the sticky close your account and you will be fine.

being they would have to sue in your bourough and that the loans were illegal, and they got close to 3 times the amount borrowed.they would have the same chance as ice in august....none!close the account and follow every step of the sticky.now just so you know these places and the scum they sell the debt to will threaten everything, but be able to do none of it.please keep us posted.

Hey angiee!,

You really don't have to worry about wage garnishment and definitely being sued is out of the question. Remember it is they who are illegal not you. And in fact, since payday lenders are prohibited from functioning in NY, they won't even think of doing anything legal.

Your payday loans with DJR and OneClick are over and done with. Now pay the principal amount for AdvanceMe Today and get over the trauma of payday loans!

Paul, I will definitely keep you posted... my bank is really going out of their way to help me with this. I cant close my account until all my pending authorizations go through, in the meantime, they have put both an ACH and check block on my account. They are aware of these companies and the fraud dept. is monitoring my account. (DJR is due to hit tomorrow). They also are opening a new account for me today and once all the auths go through, the other account will close. Sending out C&D letters via email shortly, filed complaints with the FTC and sending out letters to AG of NY. Keeping my fingers crossed, will let you know what happens.

Thank you Scarlett, I will definitely work out and pay the balance with AdvanceMeToday but the other two in my eyes are paid in full and then some. I doubt Ill ever see a dime of a refund, but I will be stating that I in fact am owed one in my C&D letter to them. (My bank can and will fight for me to get the money back if I want them to, I will hold off and see what the response is to my letters). Thank you again for the empowerment, feeling a little more relieved today!
