PayDay Loan Nightmare
Date: Mon, 10/22/2012 - 15:26
I just had someone calling and threatening me about paying back a payday loan. She said the the loan was from PAYDAY LOAN YES and she was the attorney for them. She kept saying that this was the final attempt and then she would be faxing over the paperwork to my local authorities and have me arrested. I kept asking her to mail me some type of documentation proving that this was indeed something I did because my identity was stolen in the past. The representative got upset and said that I needed give her my account information so they could debit my account for some ridiculous amount of money. When I wouldn't give her my account info she said she would have my job garnish my wages up to 25% and then have me arrested. I asked again for something in the mail she refused so I refused to continue the call. After I disconnected the call she kept calling me.
A real attorney won't threaten you. They won't try to scare you
A real attorney won't threaten you. They won't try to scare you and ask for your bank accounts over the phone.
One word : SCAM!!!!!!
Don't answer the phone when they call, but if you want to, pick up and don't answer any of their questions. First, ask if you can record the conversation. Then ask the name of the person you are talking to. Then, ask for a mailing address. Then ask for a managers name. Then tell them you will be reporting the call to the authorities and that your lawyer will be contacting them.
When I get calls like this, and with my brother who use to get payday loans and use our home number, I just turn the table on them. We get so many that I've gotten pretty good at calling them out on their crap. It's actually been kinda fun cause I know they can't do anything they are saying.
Don't worry about it! Like I said, if your still scared, just think that a real, legitimate lawyer would not threaten or try to scare you!
