I would contact your local
I would contact your local Sheriff office and ask them to explain. What exactly did the documents say from the police? I work in a police dept. and I'm curious what kind of documents they would send because I've never heard of ANY police getting involved in payday loans, especially illegal ones.
Since your lenders are
Since your lenders are illegal, so you owe nothing more than the principal. Close down your old bank account and open a new one. Don’t worry, they can’t sue you. Illegal lenders can’t do anything.
right on mitch
in fact i would file a complaint with said sheriif/police dept as it most likely was a phony letter sent to scare the OP.i would check your court clerk's website to see if anything was filed as it will be there.i doubt there will be anything, but first check with your local police then your court clerk.this doesn't pass the smell test meaning unless there is a summons in the documents from the sheriif it's phony plus any summons has a part where you have 20-30 days to respond. i doubt that is in there.bottomline unless you state there is a summons the docs are phony, and you should take appropriate action.now to the idiot above me.read the posts the OP already closed there account and stated they would repay the principle.irrelevant advice.
