Thank you, thank you, thank you! They left me a message on my voicemail at work, is there a way to have them stop calling me?

I have been receiving calls from these people too. All the guy says is he is agent so and so and he has a file on his desk and if he doesnt hear from me by such and such a time today he has no choice but to take this "case" further. And usually the call comes in at 5 pm eastern time and the time that they want the call returned by is 4:30pm eastern time. Last night I got a call at 7:49pm requesting that the call be returned by 4:30pm....Morons! Anyway the thing of it is I have sent this company a DV letter on 2/23/11 I know they got it because I sent it certified and I got the signed card back dated 2/26/11. I have received nothing in the mail from them and yet they are still calling with their bogus "agent" threats. I have kept all the voicemails and documented all the times they call. My question is what is my next step? Do I send them yet another DV letter?
If this is an illegal lender, you will not receive a DV letter.
If this is an illegal lender, you will not receive a DV letter. Twice a week I get a call from someone who says the same thing basically. "We have your file. If you don't call back by __, we will have to proceed with filing papers, blah, blah, blah. I just delete the voice mails. They used to call several times a day - now it's down to 2 a week :p
I would just ignore them.

no,you look into legal action as they are violating the FDCPA not only with the threats but with the continued calls after a proper DV was sent.go to www.naca.net there you should find a contingency consumer lawyer.meaning they will sue this place and they would pay his fees and court costs.first check your state laws with regards to either using the messages as evidence in any suit, but look into it.
Good advice Paul. I was focusing on her dealing with the calls.

I have received a few phone calls each time it is a different agent to call by a certain time and if I don't legal action will be taken. I have not returned any of their phone calls they are full of it.
Rosenthal Stein
I have dealing w/ an Agent Richardson from the firm since About February or March and should have googled them then. But I made arrangements with them to make payments although I had lost my job and she told me I had to make payments weekly or I could be served and go to jail (I have two small children) and she asked for a family members' name that they could contact in the event I was arrested! I made payments weekly although it was money I didn't have and as soon as I missed a payment I received a call from her saying that she had been trying to reach me (lie) and that I needed to make a payment immediately or else my file would be turned over to the courts. The next day I received a phonecall from the legal department of the company and the woman claimed she was out the door w/ my file to the courts unless I made a payment (another lie) by the end of the day I found that they had taken a 90 dollar payment from my account although the amount they requested was 250 and I heard no more from them for 3 weeks with another claim they had been calling and leaving me msgs and that a final payment needed to be made or I would be prosecuted! I had lots of doubt that they were legitimate but I guess their tactics are what's wrong! This is the very reason I would never pursue a career in this field.....they lie threaten and harrass to get u to give in and that is simply not at all acceptable.
scam
They called me yesterday claiming I owed a debt from a us bank checking account. When I called back they claimed I was under investigation for check fraud. I asked for documentation and they said they did not provide paper work. I asked the agent how I was suppose to take them serious if I had no paper work to look at, he didn't have an answer. Today they called me 4 more times at my home then at my parents. When I called back, I informed the agent that I was recording the phone call. When I started asking questions about my so called "CASE" he said "Im suppose to be asking the questions not you." Then I told him I was going to get a consumer lawyer to sue Rosenthal and Stien. He immediately hung up. Hope they stop calling but I doubt it. Ignore these people. They have no legal ground to stand on and cannot do anything about a debt you may or may not owe. BTW this "CASE/ Debt" has never shown up on my credit report.
I had the same thing
Same deal here. I got a call yesterday. They wanted over $1000 on an orignal $300 loan which I have paid back double in principle already.
Was first sent to National Credit Adjusters. They got nowhere so now it is with this group.
I asked for some documentation on where the $1000 came from and I was told it was too late for that and that they don't provide that info. I asked who owned the debt (NCA claimed to have bought it originally) and they said it went back to the orignal creditor????
I said I would never pay anyhing that I didn't have a bill for and if they couldn't provide it then we would get nowhere (I won't pay anyway as it's been repaid twice!).
So, if they are correct, then they will have filed the suit against me this AM in my county but we all know that probably did not happen. She mentioned check fraud as well which was a big red flag this is completely a scam.
I will proceed with formal complaints against them right away.
These guys think we're fools or what
On April 11,2012 I got a call from a Mr.Rogers He left the message on my landline machine saying he was with Stein and Associates and that he had a file with my social on it and that the matter was urgent. Well a little PI work was done and I googled Stein and Associates. Well there are gazillion of those on the search that have Stein and Associates and they all mean different things.
So I called the number back and found out it was Rosenthal,Stein and Associates. The extension was Mr.Rogers his real name was Edwin Rogers. Ok the next day I call him back off of an smartphone app that records outgoing calls. Since it is legal in my state after checking with attorneys on this for me to record the call without him knowing which I am proud to say I did that. Yes I got a hold of Mr.Rogers live and come to find out it was for some old credit card debt and the amount had been greatly exaggerated from what I actually owe by an significant amount claiming interst and fees all that good lying stuff. Now he did sound like he was threating to sue but he did a good job of mustering it up so an idiot can think he was trying to do that by using the phrase "We was wandering if we can get you to solve this matter on a voluntarily basis before we would have to do it on an involuntarly basis" Whoops I think Edwin Rogers screwed that one up big time because there is a big FDCPA violation more than once right there. I asked him are you threating to sue? Mr.Edwin Rogers said "I can only make suggestions and not take legal action it will be up to the original creditor" man this guy should run for office since he is good at flip flopping and another violation of the FDCPA. This part gets better Edwin Rogers asks me how do I plan to settle this matter? I told him"Not with you have misrepresented yourself you said you were with Stein and Associates and this is this Rosenthal,Stein and associates?"Then Edwin Rogers says "Yes I abbreviate because of the length of the message." Are you dumb Edwin Rogers it does not take you long to say Rosenthal it is only an additional 2 Seconds most voicemails and answering machines can handle that and what a dummy you are to open confess like that so I played the message he left on my landline back at him. I said I am giving this recording to an attorney for review he said Okay and I disconnected the call before he had anything more to say. I have turned the recordings to an attorney and there is pending legal action against them as we speak. Folks if you get a call from anyone from Rosenthal and Stein or you contact them. Record everything on an device that records. Another thing let an attorney listen to the Recordings because it can mean more money for you under FDCPA and remember do it within 2 years of first call because the statue of limitations on collectors is 2 years.
SAME THING today 12/12/2012
I just got the same message from these guys. I haven't called them back but my boyfriend is a police officer of 20 years and he's checking into this for me!! He said it sounds FISHY.
similar problem
Someone gave out what is my cell number, I assume for a debt. Now I get calls, including some from RSA, looking to collect from someone I have never heard of. Short of changing my number, I don't know what to do. At least the others were pleasant when I explained the situation, but the RSA person was quite rude.
