Can anyone make sense of this and tell me if this sounds like a scam to them??
I used to get payday loans online quite frequently, but have not gotten any in over a year. I have switched banks and moved several times. I just got a call at work from someone saying they are with the State Pre-Disposition Services department, and that the bank I used to use, National City, linked me back to my work computer to run a payday loan scam ring!
I did get the loans they referenced, through Platinum B. and Alpha, but that was well over 2 years ago, and that bank account with Natl. City was closed 2 years ago as well. I paid those loans and have not heard from them in all these years.

They kept transferring me to another department throughout the phone call, and each person threatened to send someone to my work today from the Task Force, me for being the leader of this crime ring!! They said since I got the loan online using my work computer, they have to notify my company and hold them liable as part of the crime.

If this were even remotely close to being true, they would have found me 2 years ago, right??? I don't get it. Then they said I owe $1000 and if I paid $777 today, they would write my case off as an "oversight."

I am currently working with a bankruptcy atty- should I notify my attorney, or tell these people that claim to be from the state that I have an attorney?

This is a scare tactic. They are lying, trying to scare you into paying them.

If you were really going to be charged with a crime, they would not warn you ahead of time, and they would not tell you that if you pay, they will write it off as an oversight.

They are a scam. Pre Disposition services is a payday loan collection agency. Do not give them a cent, and just hang up when they call.

Well it is now March and this company has called me at work AGAIN! Is there any way I can get them to stop calling my place of business? They are telling anyone that answers the phone that there are private, federal issues they need to discuss with me, and it's getting embarrassing! What can I do?

File a complaint with them - The AG in Florida is after them, so they moved to Georgia.

They are a SCAM. They are liars!!!! No one would let you off a "real crime" if you just pay them some money!!!

No cops will come get you, I promise.

If it helps, tell your coworkers that your ID was stolen. That way they won't think you did anything wrong. You didn't do anything wrong. This company is just trying to scare you into paying them money you don't owe.

I am no expert, but if the "police" were to call, they wouldn't question you over the phone, they would ask you to come down for a statement an on top of that the police do not take money over the phone if it gets to a point where the police are involved, you have to go to court and pay the court monies. I hopeyou got thier contact information and report them.

I have gotten several calls from a company saying that I owe money on a payday loan from a couple of years back. I asked the to send me written documentation re: the loan......they always resist doing this. They then immediately go into using scare tactics and threats. I would very much like to report them Who do I need to report them to?

These companies are shameless, aren't they? Jessfields, are they just threatening you or asking for money? If so, ask them for a letter on company letterhead stating that you indeed owe a legitimate debt and see what they say. I'd also file a complaint with the AG of your State, also check with your States' financial regulatory agency, see what they say.
