I have gotten a lot of useful information reading many of these forums, and started to put it to good use by blocking my bank account & calling both Langhorne & PDL to find out what they provide & for how much. The fees for both are almost as bad as the loans themselves. I would love to do this myself, but I am not so sure I can.
I have 9 internet & 3 storefront loans. I will list them at the end of this post. Can someone tell me which ones are legal or illegal in the state of IL?
I just defaulted Friday. Today they are just realizing it & calling / emailing me left, right & center. The folks calling me do not sound foreign as I have read in other posts which is making me think these are licensed US companies. One of them (Sandpoint Capital) has already turned me over to collection (icollect.virtualcollector.net).
I have made payment arrangements with Short Term Loans, and made the 1st of 4 payments to them this weekend.

NLS Cash Advance borrowed $300 / paid $637
(signmyloan.net)
PayDay1 borrowed $500 / paid $670.18
Ameriloan borrowed $300 / paid $500
Sandpoint Capital borrowed $300 / paid 360
US FastCash borrowed $300 / paid $735
DJR borrowed $200 / paid $120
PaycheckToday borrowed $300 / paid $90
ACE Cash Services borrowed $300 / paid $90
Port Ent borrowed $750 / paid $136

Storefronts
Short Term Loans LLC - Cash Advance $1,000 / paid 0
AmericashLoans borrowed $1,000 / paid $2,190
Check & Go borrowed $1,500 / paid ??????
(this was the loan that started it for me almost 2 years ago. I have paid $289 bi-weekly since)

You should put the legal one in with the store front seince they are all legal.

The Check-n-go one is an installment loan and backed by First Bank of Delaware and that one is not in the same category and the PDL laws don't apply to them.

Since you have closed your account you have done the first step.

You can go here and read up on the steps to take when dealing with illegal lenders.

You will need to send a letter to each.

You only owe them the amount you borrowed. All fees or rollover charges you have paid go towards that amount. You can also demand a refund on over payments.

Thanks!
With the legal ones, will they take into consideration how much you have paid them already?
I am going to try this myself before I sign up with someone. The fastest program they had was 6 months, and I couldn't swing that payment.
I can't imagine these companies back down too easily though.

Once you close your account they can no longer debit and the illegal ones usually do not work with consolidation companies or if they do you end up paying way more than you owe.

Some of them you have already overpaid and are done with.

The legal ones will usually work with you on payment arrangments once they can not get the check to clear but some can gte nasty.

I faxed all my letters, and have heard nothing back until today, I received multiple emails from icollect stating they have sold my debt to National Credit Adjustors & Redco. I also received a letter in the mail from AAA Community Finance II telling me they will send a wage assesment to my employer in 20 days. I don't even have a loan with AAA Community Finance II that I know of. Is this one legal or illegal in IL? Have you ever heard of them or could they go by a different name?

All wage assignment letters are the same. Really no difference.

You defaulted with AAA Comunity Finance on a payday loan?? If this is the case you need to review your old bank statements and contracts. If they are a storefront lender, then they have the rights to take civil action to collect the debt. As far as the wage assignment it can be revoked. However, you will still need to pay back the loan being they are Legal and was never paid.

As far as ICollect selling your ILLEGAL debt to NCA, they will get nowhere. If you have paid over the principal amount on the original PDL then ICollect, NCA and whomever has nothing to collect. Just send a letter requesting a debt validaion and a wage assignment revoke letter to be safe.
