No, you won't go to jail. Are you being contacted by the pdl or a collection agency? If by a collection agency, then they must obey the fdcpa, and if they theat jail, you could sue them. I don't know anything of Tennessee law, other than it doesn't seem to be a very consumer-friendly state.

Anyone know what to expect to happen next? This is the first I've heard from Magnum Z since I closed my account.

tina...send a request for account validation to the collection agency. They will have to validate the loan and prove they are collecting legally. You can find a sample letter in the do it yourself tab at the top of the page. As far as harrassment: if you tell them not to call you at work...or to contact you references they are required to stop or they are breaking the law.

Thanks. I did reply to their e-mail with the letter requesting PIF and also only contacting me by mail or e-mail and also revoking wage assignments, debits, etc. We'll see if I hear anything. If the collection agency does contact me, I will demand a debt validation and see where that gets me. So far, I haven't had any luck with any of them wanting to do that. But I just keep sending them the same e-mails over and over again.
