I took out a loan with Multisource for $500. After paying them $150 in renewal fees, I sent an ACH revocation letter, saying thatI live in MA and payday loans are illegal and that I would pay only the $350 balance of the principal. They called me the next day and said they had an offer for me, but when I called back I was told I was in collections. This was several weeks ago, but I never heard received any letter or phone calls since, until yesterday.

I received a phone call yesterday from a woman saying that she is trying to locate me to serve me papers and bring charges against me. I asked what for and she said I would have to call the firm handling the case and gave me a phone number and case number to reference. I called and it was a place called Accurate, saying they are handling my payday loan from Mulitsource Lenders and that I owe $850. I told the guy that I needed to understand how I owed $850 and wanted something in writing. He said I could either pay him now over the phone OR I would be served with papers charging me with fraud. I said I'd wait for the papers.

The woman called back today and said this was my last chance to pay Accurate before she would serve me with papers.

The whole thing seems sketchy and I'm not paying them anything... I'm not really getting served with papers and charged with fraud, am I? Has anyone dealt with this?

no in fact the fact they are threatening fraud is ilegal as fraud is a crime, and debts are civil matters at best.ignore the bottomfeeder, and report them to your AG.btw too many bottomfeeders threaten criminal action because they know the loan was illegal, and there isn't a thing they can do except threaten illegaly.again report and ignore,or just ignore delete any messages knowng they are just a bottomfeeder tryong to scare you.

I got a call about this too! They even called one of my references on my loan. I am glad this isn't a real thing; I've been worried about it for a couple of days.

I thought it might be fake because my information was compromised at a firm in California and I got other calls saying I was going to be charged. I called the actual number for the firm and they said it was a known scam that he police knew about.

They are threatening me & my references saying I will be served or sued. Calling me at work saying they will serve me at my job and will not stop calling me at work. As for calling my references I did not even think they were supposed to discuss your info with anyone else.

Unless you have the ability to block their number there really is no way to stop them from calling. These are scum collectors and don't abide by the law. I got a whistle and blew that into their ear a few times and also called them non stop like they did me and eventually they stopped. You just have to wait it out.
