payday loan collection

I am being contacted by Legal Debt services on an old paypay loan from 2009. I owe 250 dollars on the intial loan. The creditors want 1750.00. Should I settle this for the original amount of 250? Or can they still come after me for the 1500. They are based in Delaware, I am in California.

Off the record, most DE based lenders seem to be illegal. Officially speaking, you need to check with the State Finance Department and see if the original lender is licensed to do business in CA. In case they are not, send the collectors a C&D letter.
