I know they are licensed here in CA. I think they are licensed in most states. This means they can take people to court and garnish wages.

I had an installment loan with Checkngo and fell behind on payments. I called the collections dept to let them know that I wanted to pay the loan off, but was having financial difficulties. The lady offered me a settlement at 50% off the balance which could be paid in 6 payments. I took the offer because it was a lot easier to pay off than the ridiculous amount they were charging me before. Also, I didn't want them to take me to court.

Hopefully you can call them and work something out. If they were an illegal lender then you wouldn't have to worry about garnishment, but since they are licensed and legal they can take you to court.
