I got a 300.oo deposti inot my checking acct without asking for from the ssm group they have so far taken out $270 out of my account. Since I have read that this is illegal, Can I close my accnt without being held responsible for the rest?

Are you sure they are illegal for you? Then you will need to do an ACH recvocation and a wage assignment revocation as well...give a copy to your payroll dept. Then close your account. Let your bank know what is happening,
