Several PDLs and had to close checking account
Date: Wed, 08/11/2010 - 09:37
I have a total of seven PDLs
Great Sky Cash 200 pay 60 every two weeks paid a total of 60 so far
Titan Group 300 pay 90 every two weeks paid a total of 360 so far
Star Cash Processing 400 pay 120 every two weeks and have paid a total of 240 so far
National PDL 400 pay 125 every two weeks and have paid a total of 375 so far
Nationwide Cash 600 pay 150 every two weeks and have paid a total of 450 so far
American Webloan 600 pay 180 every two weeks and have paid a total of 510 so far
QXLonline 400 pay 120 every two weeks and have paid a total of 240 so far
I have closed the account that is associated with these loans and now need to resolve them in some other manor. My bank suggested not to give them a new account number becaues they will just cause the issue that made me close the account in the first place (unauthorized debit). I live in North Carolina and have read that these types of loans are illegal. I would like to pay the loans though and have no intention on defaulting. I just want to know the best course of action. I have a form letter set up for each pdl but need address to mail them to.
Any help would bet greatly appreciated

PDLs are prohibited in North Carolina. State this in your letter to each of the PDL lenders and tell them that as per law, you'll pay the exact amount borrowed. You don't need to pay a dime more.

Just subtract the amount you have paid to each of them and tell them that you owe the amount left after subtraction. As for Titan group, you can ask for a refund of the extra amount that you've paid. Remember, PAY THEM THE EXACT AMOUNT THAT YOU'VE BORROWED.

Illegal PDLs don't report to credit bureaus generally. But you should take out your CR and check it just to be sure. If any of them has done it, dispute it with the bureau.

Some illegal lenders have been known to try, it can be easily disputed though.

Great sky just got back to me with an email about the contract being per North Dakota laws. I replied that I am an NC resident and the contract is technically null and void. I also stated that if they wanted they could send me a copy of the contract that they had set up and I would forward it on to the states attorney generals office and any other enforcement agency that was needed. The good thing is that since they replied to my letter I know they recieved it and can only now contact me via mail or email. Also they now know that the loan will not be renewed.
