I just received a voicemail at work from a gentleman saying that he is calling from Legal Mediation Practice and that he has made up his decision this morning and he needs a statement from me to call
800-201-0565. I am shaking right now I am paranoid!!! It's just that I don't want this call to go to my HR Dept because it might be a big problem since they have received wage assingments from PDL Co. I really don't need this problem now! PLEASE HELP !

Ok Kate, Calm down. Do you know who he is collecting for?I doubt he will call your HR dept. Do you think this is from an Illegal PDL? You have revoked all your wage assignmnets correct?
His decision about what? He did nt even tell you, because he does not know what he is talking about. He is only trying to scare you. Please calm down,

I really don't understand WHY these compnaies are allowed to call people at work, I was under the impression if they were told do NOT call at work for personal business that could NOT call, and if they DID call after being told not to they were basically breaking the law, and could be prosecuted. Am I stating this correctly, or am I misinformed?

Kate, There have been several people who have posted hearing from them recently. You have the letter, it will not hurt to send it. Do you have the contact information.....address, etc. No matter who they are collecting for, and I am willing to bet a pdl, you have a right to request validation of the debt and ensure these people are who they say they are and have a right to collect on this debt.

Here is the address I found on a thread on the site...

1919 Blanding Blvd
Jacksonville, Fl 32210

The thread I read linked them with Ellis/Crosby/Prelitigation Services/United Federal Bank - All of these use the same tactics...There are so many posts about all these companies and their threats of jail, prosecution and my all time favorite...DOWNLOADING.

Katelyn...take time to read the article Cajun posted about the Florida AG investigating collection agencies. I know this is not much of a relief for you right now...but these people know they are being watch..they will still try alot but most of their threats will be just that..threats. If they do get nasty write the Florida AG I am sure he would like some more complaints!

Kate, you know we are here any time for you. It is definately scary to get those phone calls, no matter how many times you read that it happens to someone else. If youneed aything else, let us know. Remember if you fax it to be sure your sending phone number and busines name are not goint to be sent with the fax as the electronic header..I had to go into the fax machine and delete ours so those were not sent.

You are right Roxy! I faxed it and did'nt think about them getting my fax number. Oh well too late now! I hope they don't bug me anymore, the problem is that my employer are idiots and they honor all voluntary assignments, I got my check garnished bacause of Sonic Payday and so did my friend. So my controller told me that if I got one more I could get fired because the company can't trust someone who has all these debts specially in my accounting position. Can you believe that after working for them for 12 years! If it happens again I am definitely filing a acomplaint with the Dept of Labor.

Send your debt validation letter with threats of filing with the FTC and AG to this address by certified mail. Put Attorney in Fact after your signature which shows them that you have recieved advice from an Attorney. Make them send you something in writing as required by law.
