Farrell Law Group

So to get to the point, I just received call from Farrell Law Group. Did not answer the phone because I'm at work but she left a message" attempt to collect a debt, yada yada". Of course I'm not calling back but here's my question-has anyone ever had anything like this end up on their credit? I don't think that it can but I'm working hard to protect and repair my credit and would hate for something stupid like this to end up on it. Any insight for experts or others who have BTDT is appreciated.

American Web loan is illegal in US. You have overpaid them. They owe you nearly $833. There is no need to make any payments to Farrell Law Group. Send a letter to them informing that you???re not going to make payments since it is an illegal loan. You have already paid back the principal amount. In fact, you have paid more than the principal amount. So, you should receive payments from American Web Loan. Your credit won???t be affected.

Thanks Nelly. I already have a disupte letter written in the event that they send me anything, which I doubt, but I'm not going to be the one to initiate mail correspondence with this company. If they do send anything I'm forwarding it to my AG and sending the dispute letter. Thanks.

It shouldn't affect your credit, but I just recently pulled my credit reports and, to my surprise, there was an entry on my Trans Union report by Northern Resolution Group for a loan I took out maybe 2 years ago with Cashnet. I've sent a dispute to TU regarding this as 1. you cannot collect on a loan that's illegal and unenforceable; and 2. in order for a collection agency to collect from a MD resident, they have to be licensed and bonded in the state, which NRG is not.
Hopefully, that information gets it removed. I'm battling MyNextPaycheck now because they keep threatening me with third-party collection action. Make sure you educate yourself regarding your state's collection laws. That also helps in the long run. Hopefully, you won't have to deal with this!
