DESPERATELY need help with storefront PDLs in California
Date: Mon, 12/28/2009 - 21:01
I have seven PDLs with storefronts and I can't afford to reloan because of other emergencies that have come up. I want to settle with the companies, but I'm not sure how.
I want to do the EPP with them, but if each company wants four payments of $75, then I can't afford that either. Is it possible to enter an EPP with the companies and then extend it past the four payments? Also, can the EPP payments be once a month? If I get paid biweekly, would it be every two weeks?
Here's what I owe back to May:
Advance America - principal $300, paid $630
Cash Plus - principal $300, paid $630
Check Into Cash - principal $300, paid $585
Check N Go - principal $300, paid $405
Hical Financial Group - principal $300, paid $385
Nix Check Cashing - principal $400, paid $563
Speedy Cash - principal $300, paid $630
Actually, I've paid more fees than this, but I couldn't find my earlier checks.
I closed my checking account and my bank said I would not be charged for NSFs, but I don't know what to expect from the PDL companies.
Ideally, I would like to enter EPPs with them and pay them $75 every other payday (when I have much more money available). Is this realistic? Or should I just default and deal with the collection agencies?
Any help would be appreciated. I want to pay the companies back. I just can't continue in this cycle anymore. I can't take it anymore!

Usually they offer the EPP on your paydays, so if you get paid every two weeks that shouldn't be a problem. If you can't afford all four at once then try doing two at a time until they are all paid.

When I said I couldn't afford all four at once, I meant giving each PDL $75 every two weeks. If I get an EPP with each lender, I would have to come up with $535 every two weeks. I can't afford that because I don't have that much remaining after paying my rent (which I need this coming paycheck for). Sorry I didn't explain it more clearly.
I've heard (haven't confirmed) that the EPP can be extended up to 120 days (probably for the ones who get paid monthly). If that's the case, hopefully I can extend it on the paydays I have to make my rent payments.

Shazzers,
I talked to each one of the storefront lenders. I explained my situation and asked for an extended payment plan.
Five of the seven offered PDLs. Four agreed to four payments of $75 to pay off the loan. One even agreed to six payments of $50! One didn't offer an EPP but allowed me to extend the terms of the loan to a month instead of two weeks, which will definitely help. Just one didn't offer any help, but I can handle that.
I should be free of these things by March. It feels so good to know there's a way out!
Thanks for all your help. I would have never thought to talk to the storefronts if not for this site.
