That's lot of cash you owe. Let the forum know what State you are in, they will take it from there. You may want to close your account, but don't yet until you get some information. See also if you can get a payment plan from each of these instores. Don't forget about consolidating these loans, as ther are a number of companies that can help, but be very carefull. As for the internet pdl's, list them here they will tell you if these are legal or not in your State.

The key to getting a payment arrangement with a storefront is to have a good branch manager. I was able to pay off Advance America even though I was getting nastygrams constantly from their corporate offices, so it can be done.

LRS, without knowing what state you reside in, all I can offer right now is to see if any of your storefronts (and I do believe some are) are members of the CFSA. If so, you can invoke the EPP (extended payment plan) with them. This is where you would go in BEFORE the due date of the loan, ask to invoke the EPP, sign an amendment to your loan documents, and they will then break down your loans into 4 equal payments coinciding with your paydates. All fees and collection activity will stop if you are on the EPP. They may not ALL be members of the CFSA; however, some will be and you can do this. It's just an option. Another option for ones that are not members of the CFSA, you can attempt to contact the storefront and tell them you can not pay in full and rewrite (they want you to rewrite, of course). Ask for a payment plan. Most will want a payment weekly/biweekly - not monthly. Some will say they have to have the check returned NSF before they can set up payments. Some will just "hold" your check while you're making payments. Some will tell you that you will be turned over to collections; however, you may be able to make payments to the corporate office/collection agency. Can you tell us what state you reside in so we can check into it further for you? And, as kscornell pointed out, setting up payments has a lot to do with the storefront manager. Some are really good about it and others are really not.

Checksmart will be hard to work with. luckily they are a member of CFSA and you can ask for the extended payment plan. You must ask them before you loan is due.
Advance America is also CFSA member.
I'm not sure about the rest though.

So Advance America is a member of CFSA? At least that's a small step in the right direction for them... they were a bear with me! I would go in ASAP before the loan comes due and ask for it. Also, keep your documentation handy showing that you are on the plan--because it would be easy for them to claim that your check was returned.

ks, I think a lot of storefronts are becoming "new" members of the CFSA. I have found a few that weren't before and now they are. And, great point about keeping that documentation. The amendment showing the four payments is printed out separtely. It'll have the payment dates and amounts listed. Check them off with every payment made, staple the damn receipts to that paper, and take that paper in every time you make a payment. That way you will have record of every payment.

Case in point in keeping documentation:
I have paid off one of my PDL's with this--and everytime I have gone in to make a payment, I was told that my payment had been returned and I have even gotten letters from collections thanking me for my payment and telling me to call to discuss my returned check. I have had to call each time to tell them I was on the plan.

I do not have the money to pay off these instores. they are all threatening to sue me and wage garnishment. does anyone consolidate these damned things?

lrstopman, I'm sooo sorry! I know it's hard when you have multiple loans out. Believe me, I know. Do this - look to the top right hand corner of your screen. You will see a search box. Type in Langhorne and see the different posts from members regarding them. You will probably find contact information for them also. They deal with pay day loans. "Langhorne". See if you can find anything.

I really don't think a debt settlement place would help with regards to valid store front loans since they have the option of going to court. They will be licensed and have proper documentation for court. All I would do is contact each one and admit your situation to them asking for a payment plan.

Langhorne helped me out alot and were able to cut deals with my storefronts. But you need to totally research your options and choose what's best for you. Langhorne would be very helpful, but I would also check into other debt consolidation companies or see if you could negotiate for yourself if need be.
Put it this way: if you needed surgery, you would check into all of the options, right? Langhorne has helped many people on the boards, but many have also done it by themselves or with other companies.
Check everything out and then decide how to go. Don't let any of these places pressure you. They are going to get paid, we all know that. Hang in there--we're counting on you!
checksmart
has anyone had to deal with checksmart? i have some creazy lady calling me from there accusing me of hiding behind me voicemail( they call at 830 pm when i am asleep) she also is threateing me. help? all the other storefronts have been more then accomodating.

Checksmart can be one of the worst ones to deal with. They like to take people to court over the bad check, so be careful. They also don't like to accept partial payments.

Here is just a suggestion, have you tried to contact T&C (Town & County) for assistance. If you do a search for them in the search box you will find their contact information and read about what other's have to say about them.
