I received a call last night from Receivable Resolution Group. They are calling about a payday loan from Feb 2010. I did take one out from Manhattan Processing for $150.00. I paid them, paid National Credit Adjusters, paid another collection agency of theirs before I found you. She told me she is not a collection agency but a ligitator. I owe $3000 on a $150 loan but she can probably get them to settle for $750. She is supposedly collecting for Icon group and gave me phone numbers to call. Do I send a cease & desist letter or a Debt proof letter? She said she has sent letters but of course i have not received anything. She even told me my IP address of the computer I used. I live in the state of OK and do not want them calling my family. I already have 1 lady harassing everyone. Please advise on what to do. Their phone number is 716-810-5211. I have until 11/09 before legal procedings begin.

Ask them to validate the debt in writing via certified mail with a return receipt request. If they don???t give you a valid proof, then forward them a Cease and Desist letter. After receiving the same letter if they are still harassing you, then file a complaint against them to the SAG or FTC.

This is another good example of a Grade A scam and on top of that, you have been scammed by a couple of other scam outfits before as well. You really need to be careful about talking money over the phone with strangers.

Anyways, here is what you need to do. You can either ignore the calls or you can have some fun and harass the lady harassing you and your family. Secondly, you need to file complaints against the name and the number with the AG, the FTC, the CFPB and the county cops. That should take care of that.
