HiIs it possible that a payday loan company can take money out of a new bank acct at a different bank without permission?I just got an email from Discount Advances stating that they will debit my acct of over $1600 on the 15th which is tomorrow. The acct that this company had access to was closed months ago. I would like to call them and ask which bank acct are they talking about. But now I feel as if, I have to go to my bank asap anc close my acct or something to prevent this from happening. I haven't heard from this company in months and now I am really concerned

I only borrowed $400 from Discount Advance last summer.I am based in NY. I tried to call the number but was directed to calling Credit Proctection Depot about my acct. Since its late I can't get in touch with them nowI just dont want to find out that my new acct at my new bank which I had for months was debited by this company when I only authorized debits on an acct which has been closed for months. I get paid the 15th and the email which I haven't received any reminders from this company in months and thats when they said they're taking a payment.I'm scared, I live check to check.

Payday lending is illegal in the state of New York. You only have to pay back the principal amount that you borrowed, that is, $400. As of now, you should call up the bank and ask them to revoke ACH on your account. That should keep the lender from siphoning off funds from your account for the while. For more information on how to deal with illegal lenders refer to this note: http://www.debtconsolidationcare.com/paydayloan/dealingwith-illegallenders.html

you got that right soaplady.in fact back in the day when i first jouned i received those kinds of emails from lenders as well.there's nothing to worry about.they don't have your new account.the only way they would is if you gave it to them so as soaplady said relax, and know that CPD is a complete bottomfeeder that specializes in illegal pdl's.you can be proactive here and search for their address in the bar top right and file AG and FTC complaints.i would file those complaints against discount if you haven't already.

that is true as well petey.that is why the OP needs to follow soaplady's advice.despite the headaches pdl's bring people sometimes get back in the cycle.i hope that's not the case here, and they need not worry.

I'm the OP who started this thread. I hope and pray that what you guys are saying so far is correct. This payday loan along with some others were taken out last Spring. I had to close my acct at my bank for obvious reasons because they kept debiting my accts into the negative. My bank at that time was no help to me and I had to make a conscious decision to break business with a bank that I had for many years - it was one of the major banks. So in July 2011, I opened up a new acct with a much smaller, neighborhood less known bank. I have had no problems with anyone attempting to take money from me and I have not applied for any loans with anyone else using this acct. So I was thrown through a loop when I got an email from Discount Advance advising me that $1700 was going to come out of my acct on the 15th of March unless I went online to make arrangements to pay the finance fee. I thought that this was odd considering I haven't had any mail or email from this company since June 30 2011 when they sent me a reminder that a payment was due. So out of curiosity and out of being nervous that they possibly found out my new bank info, I tried to log on, a number came across the screen telling me that I had to call a number. I called the number and it was Credit Protection Depot and they were closed so I couldn't get any answers that I needed. So I just have to stress again that I have not opened any other loans with my new acct and there are no ACH authorizations of any kind with any payday company with this new acct. According to the people here, they tell me not to worry that they can't try and take money out of a different acct at another bank.I get paid tomorrow and this random email has gotten to me. And CPD has not contacted me via mail demanding payment and theyre the collection agency for Discount Advances. I also find it odd that DA sent me an email like business as usual if the acct is being handled by CPD. I'm in NY and payday loans are illegalI'd like some more insight here thats all. Thanks

the only way they would have your account is if you give it to them.no other way.
