I am paying off my loans that I had, all store front. Two of them told me I had to be in by a certain time otherwise they would be deposited "and there was nothing they could do about it". I missed the deadline, so immediately put the cash in my account. One of them called and was so rude to me, and said they NEVER said that (yes they did), so I ran over with cash to get them to stop calling. Now the other one is calling me all the time. I'm out of town now for work, so I can't just go run in with cash. I havent called her back yet mainly because I'm annoyed at this point. I've missed the calls she's made because she calls usually when I'm in a meeting.

I'm just curious why after almost a week they havent cashed the check yet?! I mean, I realize a lot of times they get NSF's and people that just dont want to pay, LOL, but..... I mean after a week, still calling and harassing me when the only reason I put the cash in the bank was because of "their" rules.

you confirmed with your bank that the checks were not cashed or deposited?

Who do you bank with? And were there funds in the bank to cover the check?

As funny as it may seem, there are some storefronts that will not deposit checks, only exchange them for a cashiers check at the bank. This is done to control costs and keep employees from manipulating the system to earn larger incentives.

I ask about the bank because there are some banks that will not cash the check even if the funds are there.

Based on what you have described, I would surmize that you owe money to Check Into Cash.

Interesting. Thanks PDLOwner.

No, the two that said it were Advance America and then a little locally owned placed called Cash Advance.

I bank with First Tennessee. The funds are there. There's a number on the check itself for verification if they want to make sure the funds are there.

Cash Advance still calls, and she left a message last time saying I could "leave a money order slipped under the door" if I wanted to have someone else drop it off (since Im out of town), but.... there's no way I'm having anyone drop off money knowing they then have the check AND my cash.

OK. Now that you mentioned it, AA may not deposit check either, but I thought that they had changed that policy. If it is a case where they do not deposit at the store level, you may want to check with First Tennessee and see if they will provide a cashiers check to PDL stores. As I mentioned, there are many banks that will not exchange it or will for an enormous fee such as $20-$25. With no more than they are allowed to charge down there, it would not be cost effective for them to cash the check and lose all profit on the advance. I would suggest making that call to check. You can also call both stores to ask why they have not taken the check to the bank. In the end, I would just get a money order for the amount due and mail it to each store. With the MO, I would also ask if they could return the check stamped PAID to you via USPS. Should not be any issue with that route from thier end. Just make a copy of the MO before you send it for your records and if you want some verification that they received it, send it Priority Mail with a delivery confirmation. It will cost about $6, but will give you piece of mind.

Just as an FYI, we have done this exact process with all 3 companies that I have been affiliated with over the last 12 years and it has worked fine. In the end, they will be happy since it is one less past due account that they have to deal with.
