Old Check-n-go online in Texas PDL
Date: Tue, 07/07/2009 - 13:08
I did not realize that my husband had an old check-n-go online PDL back 2 years ago. I guess when we took it out, we had so many and just didn't realize it. I believe the loan was $1000 from what the messages I have received is indicating. The new balance is now close to $3000. The guy that left me a message on this (I just started getting these calls last week, though they keep saying they have been contacting us...WRONG) indicates that they are sending this "back to their client" if we don't make this payment by the end of the week and should we chose to ignore this call, then he wishes us the best of luck.
OK...question is, where do we go from here on this? I believe the collection company is Viking Recovery or something like that... the number is 800-521-9660. Guy said no payment arrangements can be made on this - it all has to be paid by Friday.
I thought I read some where that Vicking/etc...were collection agencies and that they aren't the actual owners of this debt...am I right?
Where should we go from here?

Well, first of all, did you ever receive a dunning letter or ANYthing in writing from this collection agency through the mail? If not, have you moved from your previous address since you incurred this debt?
If you are still at the same address and have NEVER received a statement from this collection agency tell them; per federal law, you now have 5 days to send me a dunning letter with the mini miranda warning via USPS, at which time I will request debt validation to prove to me you have the legal right to collect this debt, OR you own this debt, thank you and have a good day.

we have moved, but we have had a forwarding address on file. Mini miranda warning? That worries me. I can't get them to answer the phone when I call them. It just states to leave a message. What if they don't respond before the end of the week? Since this was online, we didn't actually go to their office, so I can't go there and talk with someone.
