Well I guess now the fun begins!! I sent a email out to all our PDLs yesterday stating the WI laws reguarding unlicensed pdls and also that all communication will be by email or us mail. Also revoked there right to contact us by phone. So anyways I get a phone call at "work" from "The Loan Shop" who stated that my settlement of the amount I accually owe is not good enough because these laws don't apply to them because they are in Delaware. Also if I don't pay double that amount today they will take me to court and the amount will be 10 times what I owe now!!
She acknowlaged that there shouldm't be any phone calls but stated that by phone is the only way they'll do anything, not in writing. (RED FLAG) I asked her to send me the settlement they are asking for in writing and she told me no they don't work that way and they will continue to call unless I provide them the name of my lawyer. Dealing with these people really sucks and the part that really gets me is they feed on people who are already having issues other wise why would anyone in there right mind deal with these people!! I am so Stressed out!!

Do you know an attorney? If so the next time the call - call their bluff and give then the attorneys' name and phone number. Tell them that since they are charging over the limit for your state that your have decided to file charges against them for internet fraud and yor attorney would like to speak to them.

I had a similar experience with this company and I contacted them was successful in having them terminate my loan without any problem. I asked to speak to a supervisor. I don't know your situation but I used this company for a loan of $300.00 with a $90.00 fee. After three extensions they were supposed to begin paying down my loan but that did not happen, I had surgery and another family member was handling my account during that time. When I was able to work my own finances again, I noticed that the fee of $90.00 was coming out regularly every two weeks from my bank account. My $300.00 loan had paid in fees over $2120.00. Armed with the information other people from this forum advised, I was able to get them not only to stop the deduction but to clear the loan all together and they reimbursed me 180.00 in fees for one month. I sent them a detailed e-mail of my states usury laws and explained my situation and i received an immediate response and within several days it was taken care of.

Pepper,
I also had dealings with Loanshop but I was successful in getting my account marked PIF on the same day I emailed them the letter. I sent them a detailed email of my state statutes regarding payday loans and I received a response the same day. They did communicate with me via email, not phone. The only time I was instructed to phone them was to discuss a refund because she said they could not discuss that via email. I sent my letters to them via email but certify mailes a hard copy to the NV address though, I don't know anything about them being in Delaware.

bflow, maybe you could post the address you have as a "good" address for Loan Shop. You know how they move around so much, from one state to the next, once they're booted out.
