Hi. I had several pdls about a year ago. 2 were with USFS and UCL. I overpaid and requested refunds from both (never got one). I have not heard from them since probably August of last year. I suddenly started getting calls from 918-442-9109. No messages left. Today I received a call from an unknown number. Here was his message, " this is Hal Bennett from United. I am calling about 2 complaints being filed against your county. I will be verifying your employment and your home address. I have the right to rectify these compalaints before any proceedings come down on me if I call him at 855-764-2418.". Is this just USFS or UCL trying to collect? Should I just ignore??? BTW, I live in Indiana.

Did you mean USFS (US Fast Cash? Because I have no idea who USFS (normally the acronym for Forest Service) is. The first number seems to belong to NCO/USFC.
You have nothing to worry about. This looks like the handiwork of illegal bottomfeeders. Both USFC and UCL are illegal lenders. When the idiots call again, ask them for their physical mailing address and send them a C&D letter via CMRRR. If they refuse to give you the address, hang up and file complaints against the name and the number with the AG and the FTC.
Do not fall for the BS about complaints being filed with the county and other similar lies. Debts are civil, not criminal. You cannot be criminally prosecuted for failing to repay a debt. The most they can do, if they are complete muppets, is attempt to sue you in which case you have a perfectly valid defense; the loans were illegal and therefore all binding contracts are null and void.
