If Cashnet don't have the license to operate in your state, then they are illegal, irrespective of their registration with CSO. If your bond is cancelled, then you're not required to make any payment on it.

Thanks for the quick response although the bond I was referring to is theirs. In Texas, if they are not licensed to lend, they must register as a CSO. To register, they are required to post a bond and reregister every year. I was wondering if it was a safe bet that if the registration and bond had not been renewed since 2008 that it was the same as not being registered at all.

I'd be interested in finding out more about them. They suck big time. In an 18 mos period, I borrowed close to $10K...and paid back to them $20K!!!! They won't even work with me on payments, they won't settle, they suck. :(

You need to look on your loan paperwork. You should have a CSO agreement. The CSO agreement usually will have the company name and address. The company may not be registered with the name that you think it is and the address may be out of state.
You may find that Cashnet USA is listed as Cash America Net of Texas, LLC., on the CSO agreement, which is registered in Texas.

Several companies out there hold the registration under a different name and the dba in there. Check N Go is like like that, took me a while to find them on the list of registered CSO's.
