I see many posts that are similar to what I'm dealing with but can't seem to compile all the right information to my specific situation. I took out a loan with loanpointusa almost two years ago. I believe the original amount was $700. I am in the state of Texas. A signicant amount of this loan was paid back but I do not have the specifics as my checking account at the time has long since been closed, due to issues from the pdl. That being said, I have a letter from Farrell Law Group (who I've learned work hand in hand with loanpoint) demanding $3,120. I know I need to send a debt validation letter as well as file complaints. So my questions are:

1) Was this loan legal in Texas?

2) Can I send a DV letter, with delivery confirmation to a PO Box (only address they gave)?

2a) If not, where or how should I send the letter?

3) Who should I file complaints with, and where do I do so?

4) What are the chances they are actually going to try and validate this debt legally?

5) Anything else I should know, or consider before proceeding?

Unfortunately I was out of town when the original debt collection letter came, so my 30-day window is short. I must act immediately. And lastly, for what it's worth there was some contact from Loanpoint over the last two years but it then pretty much dissapeared for a significant amount of time until now. Thank you in advance for your help!

Hi!
Welcome to the forums!

The loan is legal provided Loanpoint has the license to operate in your state and Farell is holding the account at present. As per the BBB official website, the address of Farell Law Group is given below:

Farell Law Group LLC
PO BOX 32274
Kansas City, MO 64171-5274

You can send the notice at this address. Try to send it immediately. If they can't send you a debt validation letter, then send a Cease and Desist letter to them. You can register complaint with State Attorney General if the need arises.
