Help! I have gotten myself into quite the depths of payday loan hell and could really
use some advice! I live in Washington State and have the following internet loans:
Pepper Cash- $540 (original loan was for $400 and I have made payments, the last of which was $208 and my balance is $540)
Ameriloan-$585
United-$585
Seaside-$500
Big Sky-$500
Cash in a Wink-$416
I cannot find that these companies have licenses in WA. I find myself having to take more loans as the fees of the current loans deplete my bank account every two weeks! Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks!

OK. You're going to want to follow the steps in this thread to deal with your unlicensed/illegal lenders.

I need to know the full name of "United." Other than possibly United, all of your loans are unlicensed.

This means you are only required to repay the principal (the exact amount borrowed, no fees, no interest, etc....just what was deposited in your account). If you've paid more than that, ask for a refund when you send your letters.

Your first step is to close your checking account. It's the only way to stop them.

I am in Washington State as well, and just started the process of going through the same thing you are. First thing, go to your bank, close, and open up a new checking account. Don't pay these guys any more money. I made the mistake of putting this part off a few extra days, and lost another $200 out of my account because of the delay. Then send out the emails. I am now looking forward to my first full paycheck tomorrow without having to worry about any of the money being withdrawn before I can touch it, and I must say its an awesome feeling. And for the laws for Washington State, go to Access Washington website, and search for chapter 31.45 of the RCW. You can quote some of this in your letters. I'm not sure which parts are the best, but it really doesn't even matter. I know the laws in Washington only allow you to have one loan out at a time. The only online payday loan company I've seen that follows this rule is CashNetUSA which leads me to believe the rest are operating illegally. All 5 of mine were illegal after research. Best of luck to you, and keep your head up. It's an awesome feeling once your bank account is changed, and the letters are out.

InWashington- Thanks for the encouragement! It really does help to know that others are in the same boat and understand the situation! :) I am interested to know how it's going for you through the whole process, if you don't mind sharing.

Ok, so I had a hard hold put on my bank account and switched account numbers today....hoping that will keep the vultures out of my money for now! I am going to email the revocation letter to all of them tomorrow and see what happens. I am sure my phone will start ringing at first light tomorrow morning once they've figured out they didn't get their money!
I cannot tell you how much I appreciate this forum! It's a great service to people (such as myself) who feel like they have no options. Thanks everyone!!

Well, so far my stuff is going good. I sent out 5 letters total. I have an issue with zip19, but that is a different situation, because I defaulted on that one before I began this whole process. But as far as closing the account. I did it last week. I sent my letters out Sunday night. I receieved one response from CashYes right away, offering a settlement, which I have just ignored for now. The other four, I have not heard from yet, neither by email or phone. The payments were suppose to go through this morning, so maybe later this week, when they didn't get their money, the responses will start coming in? Maybe not. But thats a quick update from me! I'm happy with the way things are going, I can see a light at the end of the tunnel finally after a long and stressful time, and the light isnt to far out. It's great, and the people on this forum are great. Good luck! And keep us updated, because I'm curious to see how it goes for you as well.

I have just sent 5 letters out...with 4 to go..... hopefully it will go well! I am very nervous that these companies will contact my work....I work for a school district and have not been there for very long (3years is pretty small compared to the "lifers'"!) I can't remember who I gave what numbers to so I have no idea who could call...this is, really the worst situation anyone can get into.....!!!!
I, again would like to thank those who have given me advice. I

Wow...already got a reply from one of the companies! Would love to have some feedback on the validity of their statement.....

Good Morning ;

This is a St. Vincent company. St Vincent and the United States are both parties to the General Agreement on Trade in Services, a treaty which specifically permits companies in one country to make consumer loans to citizens of the other. Under the treaty, we are only obligated to follow the federal laws of the United States. We are not required to obtain state licenses and individual state laws do not apply since the federal laws adopting this treaty supersede any state's laws on the subject.

Please don't hesitate to contact us at anytime.

Warm Regards,
Customer Service Department

It's BS. Standard nonsense to try to get more of your money. Respond that your state's laws prevail and that there are no "federal laws" regarding payday loans. By the way, you mentioned Zip19. FYI - they are not licensed to lend anywhere in the U.S. Anything you've paid to them (including overpayments from previous loans) should be subtracted from the current principal balance. :)

OMG! I do believe Wells Fargo is the dumbest bank on earth! I had a hard hold put on my old checking account, got a new account number and was assured that NO debits would go through the new account. Guess what???? The PDL's somehow were able to withdraw funds from the new account last night and I am left with $10!! I am so frustrated...the bank has "no idea how they were able to debit the new account" but will file a claim and maybe refund the charges in 2 business days. Gee thanks Wells Fargo!

Good God!!! Does anyone at Wells Fargo know their A$$ from third base? I have talked to 6 different people and all of them have different stories! Yes, the accounts are linked....no they are not....close the account, you can't close the account until your pending transactions have cleared....WTF??? As of now the latest is I cannot close the "new" account as there is a pending deposit....and to open a new account I need to have $100....HELLO IDIOTS you let the PDLS take $1500 from me, I don't have $100 to open a new account.......I am beyond frustrated and VERY angry and my husband is ready to kill me! My new account is still open and I am sure that someone will withdraw more money tonight.........thanks for letting me vent...
