i fell into the payday loan trap a few months ago and have been trying to clean up my mess. i have been able to contact most of the companies i borrowed money from and have paid off my outstanding debts.
the one company i can not seem to settle with is titan group llc. everytime i call they tell me that they have sent my debt to a collection agency but they refuse to give me the name/phone number of the company. i just want to get this damn thing paid off. they are super rude and have told me that i should not have stolen their money! how am i stealing if they have consistenly withdrawn money from my bank account (now closed) AND i am calling to pay off the loan.
is there anything i can do about this? should i sit around and wait for someone to call me about this? i'm sure the collection agency will demand way more than my original $300 loan.
I just want all of this over with. can anyone please help?

You haven't mentioned the state you live in. Payday lending is not legal in all the states. If they are illegal in your state, then you will be liable for paying only the principal balance.

However, if the payday lender is legal, then you will be liable for paying the principal balance as well as the fees and other charges. If the payday lender has really sold off your debt account to a collection agency, he won't negotiate for the payments with you any more. It is the collection agency who will deal with you in this matter.

I will suggest you to wait for some time and check out if you receive any call from the collection agency. If you don't receive a call, you can check out your credit report in order to find out if the collection agency has reported anything to the credit bureaus. If they have reported anything to the credit bureaus, then you can find information from there itself.

If the collection agency demands a huge amount from them, then you should try and negotiate with them so that you don't have to pay much. You can even go for the option of debt settlement in order to get rid of your debts.

i live in massachusetts. i originally took a loan for $300. i have been paying back $90 every two weeks since February.

i really wish i had found this website last week - i paid out about $4000 this past week to get myself out of all the debt i had accrued. now it looks like most of those companies are not even legal...

as far as titan goes.you have overpaid.demand a refund and don't accept anything less.please provide this info.

1)names of your other lenders
2)amount borrowed from each
3)amount debited by each prior to default

i can tell you this.if the others are similar then not only do you not owe,but you are due refunds, but i need the info requested above to be sure.

All of your loans are illegal. They charged over the legal limit for interest, they are not licensed. Go to http://www.paydayloaninfo.org/state-information/29
and read about payday loans. All internet payday loans are illegal unless they are licensed.

You should send them letters demanding a refund for what you overpaid. Also on the above site is a place to file a complaint. You can do that and possibly attach a copy to the letters to the lenders. Maybe that will convince them to send you a refund.

Thank you so much for the information Aubrey. I am currently in the process of filling out the paperwork to report each of the companies that I used for payday loans. I am wondering if there are formats of demand letters on this website. I am unsure of what information I should include and how to best address the situation with the companies.
Thanks!!!
