A few months ago I opened a Check n Go installment loan to help me out financially and it's only seemed to make things worse. Originally, the gentlemen told me the payment would be taken out once a month and it was a pay day loan. I'm angry at myself for not doing more research. I can't afford the payments and I'm now in about $17k worth of debt not including the $1,000 installment loan. I've been paying since April and when I called to ask for the payoff - it was $950. One of my checking accounts have been closed and I do not want to give them my new one so I called today to ask if a.) they could lower my payment or b.) could I send them the payments myself and they told me no to both because I agreed to the contract allowing the money to be debited from my account. I went back to look at the paperwork and that is not the case at all.

I'm not defaulted yet, but I will not be able to make my next payment on the 24th. The man I spoke with already told me I'm going to collections eventhough I called to ask for help. I'm not sure what to do and honestly, I'm pretty scared right now. Sadly, with the payments made..the principle is almost covered but it's gone towards the 374% interest rate instead. I completely regret doing this and now I think it's put me in even worse financial hardship. Any advice on how to best handle this would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

BTW, I live in Delaware so the laws here aren't exactly clear.

Payday lending is allowed in Delaware. You should contact the Delaware Office of the State Bank Commissioner in order to find out whether or not the payday lender is licensed to operate in your state. If they are licensed, then you'll be liable for paying the full amount along with late fees and other charges. In such a situation, you can go for the option of payday loan consolidation.

If they are not licensed, then you can check out the given page in order to know how you can deal with them: http://www.debtconsolidationcare.com/paydayloan/illegal-pdl-dealings.html .
