Paradise Cash Advance I once paid off
Date: Wed, 07/18/2012 - 12:00
Back in 2009 I took out a loan for $400. They had started taking money out of my account as expected but I tried to call them to get them to remove the total remaining balance. I could never get them to pick up the phone. I was literally on hold for very long periods of time.
I contacted my back and they blocked the ACH's. which was suggested that maybe if I did that I would get someone to call me. A while later someone did. Even though I complained that it was unfair that I could not payoff the loan they seemed uninterested and demanded I pay the remaining amount. The collections was part of Paradise because when I told them not to call me at work they told me they were outside the US and federal and state law did not apply to them. We worked out a payment plan and I paid them off in two payments.
I repeatedly asked for confirmation that the account was settled. All the guy would say is yes, and said he would send me a PIF. Despite several requests I never got one and eventually gave up.
A few days ago I started getting calls threatening to have me served and that I was going to be arrested for fraud. The company was Mason Financial. I asked for information about the company and all I was told was that they were in Amherst New York and that they only had a PB Box for an address. I informed them that I did pay the loan off and they would not provide any information about the account and even gave me a bogus account number. He also said he could not email me or fax me any account information that only the CEO can do that. He said he would mail the information out. I called him later to ask again for the address so I could give the info to the Indiana Attorney Genreals office and he acted strange and said he just mailed out my paperwork- less that 15 minutes from my previous call
I called Paradise which answered as Fast EFunds. When I questioned the representative it took a long time for someone to be found that had anything to do with Paradise. When I did finally find someone they had no record of the payments I made and that they turned the account over to Total Recovery Solutions, which is not Mason Financial. They claimed I had two account numbers which do not match the original contract account number. When I asked about this I was told that when the loan automatically renews a new account number is assigned. So, you ask yourself...how can you really ever pay off anything if there is no contract I signed with that specific account number.
Total Recovery Solutions said that since there is no proof I made those two payments I still own and would be pursued to the full extent of the law. Well, Since the original loan for $400 had an APR of 506.94%, finance charge of 100.00. I am still owing them around $500.
I had previously filed a report to the FTC and Indiana Attorney General. Since Paradise was outside the US there was nothing anyone was willing to do. I paid the debt and great harm to my family. Now this ghost has come back and I am scared. I requested my bank statement from 2009 that will show the two transactions and hopefully will have some id on them. I have kept all of my previous timelines and notes. What are my options? I did make good on my loan in good faith. It took me having to stop them from robbing me unfairly to do it. I want to do right. Can anyone help me?

This is an offshore illegal lender. Ignore their communications
This is an offshore illegal lender. Ignore their communications.....there is nothing they can do.
But the collection firms are US
Now that the collection agencies are in the US does that make the debt now legal?
