Storefront PDL's
Date: Wed, 10/07/2009 - 04:35
so now, I have PDL's 2 with stores here in Michigan. I don't think they are legal in Michigan, based on the Mi.gov web-site. I took these out 2 weeks ago to pay the last gruop of deductions & then the next week I took out the second one to pay the first one & here I am.........
the first is:
ADVANCE AMERICA CASH ADVANCE--$676.46 due 10/9
and the other is:
Checksmart --$676.46 due 10/16.
If I go in do you think they'll make payment arragements, or should I call the 800 #???

I've had really good luck with Advance America here in Ohio. If they are store fronts they are legal by the way. They have a license of some kind to be a store front lender. Advance America did have to try to debit my account first and then let me set up very small payment arrangements here with the store front every 2 weeks that I can actually afford. I've never even had to talk to the corporate office because I am working with the store front.
Checksmart, I've had no luck with what so ever. They have been very nasty with me, won't let me make payments and harass me all the time. I would suggest you call them before you are past due and see if they will let you do an EPP (extended payment plan). It will break it up into 4 payments usually but they do not have to let you at least in Ohio they don't. Right now they are wanting all or nothing from me which I can't afford so I am trying to save some money and pay it all off.
There are a lot of people on here who can help you. This is just from my experience.

I agree with Shazzers, go into the store. The 1-800 number is probably the corporate office and most of the time they don't communicate back to the store..I had that problem when I was dealing with a store front.

Broken record...
CALL the Corp Office!!! The store level personel generally do not have the authority to deviate from the contract with big companies. Both of these are big companies!!

PDLowner would know best, my situation could have just been different. But you are right, these are big companies. I was dealing with a place that was just local to my state. I was just figured going into the store would be easier since that is where the loan initiated. Don't Know
