Viking Recovery?

Anyway, the guy sounded like he was reading something scripted. He told me he didn't know who the original lender was, just that it was done online and that once the money was deposited they never got anything paid.
The email address he had on file for me was one I have only used once for a PDL and that one I am 95% sure was paid off WAYYYYYY before I closed my bank account.
I asked for verification of the debt, and he said he had to get his manager. There was a TV or something blaring in the background..it seriously sounded like he was watching "The Fast and The Furious"....
He called the manager over, mumbled a few sentences and I could hear the phone mouthpiece being covered by a hand...that muffled scratchy sound LOL
So the manager gets on the phone and I ask him to send me verification of the debt. He asked me what I planned on doing to resolve it in the meantime. I told him that once I got verification I would contact them and we would go from there.
I can't find out much about this collection agency...only their phone number which is 1-800-638-9724.
Memory may be a little lax, but I *think* the PDL was PayDayOK.com, and I am in TN.
Any info or help is appreciated. I kind of feel like they are trying to take me for a ride....

A legitimate collection agency will send written notification of the debt.
They don't know who the original lender was? Big red flag there.
Do not give them any info at all. If they will not give you an address then you cannot send a debt validation and a cease & desist request to them - which is why they don't like to give it out!
Best to just ignore them - answering and talking to them only encourages them and gives them the opportunity to use their bully tactics on you.
IMO you are on the right track. Since they have made the initial
IMO you are on the right track. Since they have made the initial contact, they now need to send you a dunning letter for collection within five business days of their contact. Once you receive that, send them the DV.
