For the past 6 months I have been getting this really weird phone call from some man with a heavy accent. He says that I took out a loan with fast cash international and "never intended to pay them back." The phone number is 626 380 2177. He says that there has been a lawsuit against me and I need to appear in court on Nov. 11th in California. I live in Illinois and he told me that If I don't show up then they will come to arrest me. I laughed at him and he got mad and hung up. I call him back and gave him a bogus attorney phone number and asked for his company's name and mailing address. He said that his company's name was Matel and associates or something like that and he couldn't give me the address. When I asked him why, he said that he doesn't need to answer my questions. Every time they call me, they have the same story. I asked him "you have been calling for 6 months now, if you were going to sue me, don't you think I would have gotten something in the mail by now?" He got mad and hung up. I know that this company is a debt collector but the problem is, they keep calling my job, telling my coworkers that If I don't call them back, I will face "severe" consequences. How do I find info on this company so I can file a complaint?

Next time you must tell them that you'd like to have all the communication in writing, and like to send a DV letter for which you need their mailing address. Threatening with lawsuit is against the FDCPA. They are clearly violating the law to get themselves hooked with a lawsuit. Hope you have recorded the conversation where they have threatened you.

This is a SCAM! File a complaint with the FTC. Nothing will ever come of these threats, the next time they call hang up immediately.
