Ameriloan and USFastCash help
Date: Wed, 11/11/2009 - 11:44
Hello, I am new to payday loans and am looking for some information. I received two payday loans about a month and a half ago, from USFastCash and Ameriloan. After doing some reading it looks like they're basically the same company.
Anyway, I've done (I think) most of the steps in the stickies on this forum. I emailed them a letter revoking ACH debit authorization as well as stating that they are not allowed to send me any communication except through email and snail mail. Basically the form letter most everyone probably uses.
So, they continue to call me, at work and sometimes at home. I will send the same letter again via certified mail on friday (yes I am that broke until pay day), but any information or assistance regarding these companies is appreciated. If needed, I am located in Florida. I have made a couple payments on each loan but the interest is ridiculous and I did not understand what I was signing up for at the time, and now I come to find out these companies are operating illegally.
One note, when I went to my bank to ask them to freeze my account, the lady looked at me like I was crazy. I think I should have said 'put it on deposit only' but she swore up and down there was no way they could do that. I am going to try going to another branch to talk to the manager tomorrow, with a copy of the letters I sent off to back it up. I can't afford all the overdraft fees I'm being charged from these characters constantly hammering away at my account. I had the bank put a stop payment on my account so they changed the amount to $500 (instead of $30).
And while I did offer to pay back the principal, I have no intention of sending them a dime until my bank account is settled for all the fees they've wracked up. Is that wrong?

No, it isn't wrong. You do need to speak directly with the branc
No, it isn't wrong. You do need to speak directly with the branch manager, they are usually the only ones authorized to place a hard debit block on an account. One word of advise, you really should close out that account as soon as you can because it will never be safe again as long as these unlicensed lenders have your account information. I would go and open a new account somewhere else first, then promptly close the current one.
