I have spent the last several weeks reading over this forum looking for answers on how to get out from this pdl nightmare, and appreciate the time and effort you have put into all the research and posts. I tried searching, but was unable to find the answers.

I live in Kentucky, and have 6 internet pdl's...

DJR $600.00, paid 450.00 ( there wasn't even a deposit for 600.00, only 300.00)
Cash Jar $100.00, paid 300.00
Integrity $300.00, paid 450.00 (paid off)
Loanpoint $500.00, paid 650.00 (paid off)
Instant Cash $ ? 300.00, paid $100.00
Payday One $650.00, paid 1650.00

I have closed my checking accts, wrote out C&D letters, following the format that I found on here, tailored to Kentucky, and sent certified with receipt.

My questions are: Internet pdl are illegal in Kentucky, but I am confused as to Payday One? Are they a pdl? I do not find them listed as a licensed pdl on the status link for Kentucky.

Also, has anyone ran into a situation where money was deposited into their checking acct, and didn't sign anything for it??? I don't remember signing anything, or even accepting a loan from DJR or Instant Cash? But how would have they gotten a hold of my banking information?

I have included in my C&D letters a request for a "paid in full" letter and a refund for all monies paid above the principle and allowed fees.

Thank you for all your advice
RD

I read a post by Goudah2424, although back in 8/4/2008, that stated,
Thread: 866-580-1227 from paydayone.com - still I owe them some money?

. . . Payday One is a legally operating company, and can take steps to collect on the loan.

This is why I am confused? I believe it also stated that Payday One was one of the few internet sites that is legal??

This is so good to know, so when examining your pdls you can look out for this kind of situation. However, I would also find out if the bank is licensed in your state and if they are required to do so in order to do business with you. Additionally, like in MA there are statutes which govern rates of amounts under $6k. The MA law dictates that all lenders must be licensed by the Division of Banks. So I would really check on your state law. But, I would also suspect that IF an above-board bank is doing business in your state, they are abiding by the law, but then again, I think about all these others and think, businesses will try to make a buck by seeing what they can get away with. Just my $.02 after being here for a few days and having read most of the posts.

And again, thanks to the great people on here who are so knowlegeable and willing to share and help. Two weeks ago, I didn't know what I was going to do and had no one to share it with. Today I feel that it is manageable and as a result developed a great and supportive relationship with my bank. Now it is conquering patience and the anxiety without the fear.

Payday One is NOT legal in KY -- I got my account marked PAID IN FULL with help of the Ky Dept of Finance and the BBB. File complaints with both. In fact, Payday one recieved a letter from the legal dept of the Ky dept of finance stating they must cease and desist in KY a few weeks ago... (the lady i worked with at the dept of finance emailed me a copy).
