Wage Assignment in NY!!! :(

I live in NY. I had taken out an internet loan with cash first llc for almost $400. I never paid it back. The debt was given over to Lighthouse recovery. I got a call last year that if I didnt start making payments they would assign my wages. Of course I freaked out, so I set up a payment plan witht hem. With all the interest they told me that I owed something like 1800 bucks. So far I have paid about $175. A few months ago, I hit a snag, and had to stop paying them. I got a call stating that if I didn't continue payments, and start with a downpayment of like $140 or something, that they would assign my wages. They offered to settle for $300. I don't have the $300 to settle with by Monday. How can I stop the wage assignment? Is there anything I can do? A letter I can overnight? Anything? Feeling a little hopeless.

payday loans are prohibited in NY. after the collector validates the debt (which i doubt), make arrangements to pay the principal amount only (this is the amount that was borrowed). how were these payments made? through your bank account? if so, close it asap and make sure any ACH will not push it back open.
jasgal is correct, revoke any wage assignments they may have with you plus notify your payroll department asap.

Send them a letter like the one below, then take the letter to your employer, they will no longer be able to attach your wages if you do so.

I have an account that was sent to lighthouse, i had prviously sent a letter revocking wage assignment to the original creditor before they sent it to the ca. Should I send one to lighthouse as weel or is the one I sent to the original pdl good. i live in NY as well.
