I am from california, too. And California has limits on what can be charged. The Department of Corporations has alot of information on their website. You need to start by letting us know if they are internet or storefront, because you have to treat them differntly. Closing your account is the only way to stop internet lenders to stop taking your money. You also need to send them letters of revoke. and file complaints against them with the dept. of Corp., Attorney Generals, F.T.C, BBB and www.ic3.gov. Do them asap.

The renewal fees wouldn't apply to unlicensed lenders, in fact, NO fees and NO interest would apply. All you would be responsible for is the amount you borrowed to begin with.
