Advance America a member of the CFSA, (The Community Financial Services Association of America), see link below:
http://www.cfsa.net/MemberList.aspx

You might want to check and see if any of your other lenders are members too because if they are this is good news for you, it means they offer something called the EPP or extended payment plan. How it works; you pay off your loans in 4 separate payments and the interest stops as soon as you sign up for it, but there is a catch. You must request it because they won't offer it, you must make sure you ask for this EPP BEFORE you default, and there have been occassions when some of the employees who work at these loan companies are not aware of the EPP, so you need to arm yourself with information and proof that they are required to allow you the EPP if you request it, so, go to the CFSA website and obtain some of the guidelines which states they (CFSA members-payday loan companies) must adhere to the guidelines in order to stay a member. Their website is below:
http://www.cfsa.net/
Information on the EPP is below at number 11:
http://www.cfsa.net/industry_best_practices.html
I will return shortly with information on the lenders which are not CFSA members.

Are you sure that Elastic is a legal lender? Quite honestly, if it were me, I wouldn't go thru a debt consolidation company, I would use the resources I have available to take care of this debt myself, however, that is your call and you must do what you feel is best for you.

I'm sorry, I didn't know you already used the EPP. Did you check the list to see if any of your other lenders are members of the CFSA? I'm pretty sure they are, and happen to know that Paydayone also offers and EPP, perhaps some of the others do also. As I said before, do what is comfortable for you, if you want to use a debt consolidation program I would advise you to make sure and check them out first and read every inch of the contract before you sign anything or give them access to your money. I can't recommend one because I have no faith in them, however, that is my own personal opinion and may not be the census.

Update on what is going with my payday loans:

I have made arrangments with everyone and feel better.

500 Fast Cash keeps calling me after I sent them the letter about being illegal in my state. You did say all I had to pay back was what I borrowed right? So that would mean I only owe $30. What else can I do with them they are calling everyday..

So yes you can do it yourself. You just have to be honest with the payday loan people and be friendly.

Thanks for your help,
Carla

To Carla, I would send 500 Fast Cash a Cease and Desist Letter to stop the phone calls. I get the calls at home and at my job too, but I don't answer them. I already contacted the NYS Attorney General's office and the NYS Department of Banking because Payday lending is prohibited in NYS. I was advised to do everything in writing. Don't talk to no one over the phone.

The Mods on this board are excellent! They will help you. Good luck!
