This is a collector that I believe is for a payday loan? Just curious because I have never seen their name mentioned on this board.

They are attornys based out at Huston, Texas. Check out about them in the following link from BBB.

Do you recognize the debt they are trying to collect? You must ask them to validate the debt before they continue with their collection activities.

I just got a call from these guys about an alleged check from 2002 when I asked them to validate check they could not. When I asked them to give me the information of the pay day loan folks they could not. They told me they where filing charges unless I paid them 750 dollars. He said I should run my credit and it would show up on my report. Little did he know I check my credit often and so no such charge. I think these guys are slick.

I got a call from them asking me to pay for a payday loan from 2001 that I got for $600. They wanted me to pay them $2298, or else I would face further "processing". They talk really fast and don't let you get in a word. They say that you will have a warrant out for your arrest if you don't pay them. I'm going to report them to the Federal Trade Commission.

If they call you and claim you have a debt, follow the debt. By that I mean, call the payday company they claim you have a debt with and see what THEY did with it, often they will write off the debit, but then it gets sold to another collection company. Ask for phone numbers of collection agencies it got sold to and call them to track it, etc. Also, payday loans are a CIVIL matter, at least in New Mexico. Not a criminal matter. Call the Federal Trade Commission, your District Attorney's Office, and your State Attorney General's office if these people call you about a payday loan or a "bad check" and are threatening you. Cole Tanner and Wright may end up with it and they threaten criminal charges and claim "FELONY." HANG UP ON THESE PEOPLE and REPORT THEM! DO NOT GIVE THESE PEOPLE YOUR MONEY. They DO NOT represent the payday company the loan originated with AND any money you give them will not go to the original payday company.

There are two lawsuits currently pending against them, one in Texas, the other one in Florida.
