Question about Western Union payments

Why do so many people on here seem so adamant against paying by Western Union? Is it just because of the expense, or is it because there is a way to trace back to your bank account (how would there be if you take in cash?)
What's the problem with it?

i have a problem with it. first it is about $20 or so to mail it. so yes the expense is one thing. but my main problem is why they refuse to give a physical address to mail a money order to? any legit place would be glad to provide one and it sends a red flag if they do not.

When doing a western union, you should only pay via quick collect which goes to a company, not an individual. Quick Collects run about $12.95 up to $2500.
If it is due to a PDL who wont give you an addess, I could probably tell them to FOAD.

Well, if a PDL isn't gonna give me an address, it's pretty much a sure bet that they aren't legal, in which case I'm not sending them another dime anyway, having already overpaid.
But if I'm dealing with a legal company and trying to pay them off, even if they've given me an address, I may consider the 12.95 worth it to make sure that the payment got where it was supposed to go, when it was supposed to get there. I've had TOO many things get lost or delayed by USPS, I'm not trusting them with anything important.
