What state are you in and what was the name of the pdl? Was it an Internet lender?

Cash advance usa orginally now Capital Collections is calling and harrassing me everyday and threatening my family. She threatens to take away my kids and put me in jail. I have copies they sent me of a check I wrote to the original loan people, and copies of my drivers license. It's mine but it was only for 250.00 and they say I still owe 450.00. I've read somethings about this company and people tell me to not pay them cause in the state of Wisconsin where i'm from an payday loan can't be charged as a criminal offense. My family says the next time she calls to call the cops and report the harrassment, and dont pay them. What should I do???????????????

That is right! PDLs cannot be charged as criminal offense in the state of Wisconsin. But you should also keep in mind that the more you hold it up, the more it hurts your credit. So rather than avoiding their calls and their payments, it would be a good idea to have a word with them and explain them your situation. There are chances that they might come up with a payment plan or probably might even offer to settle the account.
