Yes you should be worried. By closing your account, just as the letter said, you breached your contract with the lender and they have a reason to take you to court and sue for what you owe them if you can't come to an agreement. And if the judge finds for the creditor/collections agent, you could end up paying their court costs and attorney fees.

Funny that you answer that way OVLG Attorney because the first thing OVLG tells you to do is close your account. Also, the company I am dealing with My Cash Now is illegal in Texas and I have overpaid them.

If you have truly ascertained that My Cash Now is neither licensed in Texas as a lender, nor registered as a CSO (and I suspect you're right that they are neither), then they are highly unlikely to try to sue you.
OGLV Attorney, maybe I'm confused, help me understand... If a business is not licensed as required by law to enter into a certain type of contract, then how can that business expect to win a judgment against someone for breaching that illegal contract? It's not a legally binding contract just because they decided to call it one.
If the OP has, in fact, paid more than the amount that the company is legally entitled to collect, any threats of legal action are empty. They're blowing smoke and hoping you buy it.

I don't know what the customer representatives at OVLG say, or why they tell people to close their accounts. Probably because once you sign up with OVLG we start a trust account with BOA (that you have complete access to) and pay your creditors from that account while we negotiate.
It is true that if the loan is illegal they cannot collect on it, but they can try. I was assuming, perhaps in error, that CPD was not the collection agency for My Cash Now and trying to collect on a different debt. I apologize if this was a mistake.
