Need help/info for payday loan mess

I have 4 payday loans out. I live in Texas. I was going to get with a debt consolidation co to take care of this but wasn't sure if that was the best way to go. I have read a few posts on here about these companies calling your job or references and I DO NOT want that to happen. Any info is greatly appreciated.
