I have just received a call from national attorney's office trying to collect a debt from
a pay day loan, which I do owe. He said, they had referred him with the case for
legal reasons. Im not saying I won't pay its just right now I can't afford what their
asking. I asked if he had my original checks, he said, no. I told him I would go to the
main office here in san antonio, to find out why he doesn't have everything from my
file. According to him they gave him my acct. number etc.
What can i do to resolve this.

thanks,
rosemarie

Soaplady is correct, and it's in your best interest to make them validate this debt. The next time the attorney calls you, tell him he has 5 days after his first initial contact with you to send you a letter of collection via the mail, that is a federal law (FDCPA), if he is any kind of legit attorney he will already be aware of this.

If and when you receive a letter of collection, at that time you will have 30 days to dispute it and request that he validate this debt. He must provide you with proof he is legally able to collect this debt. Google 'debt validation' and read up on how it works, also google FDCPA to educate yourself on your rights.
