I live in Arkansas and have gotten myself into a online pdl spiral! Due to my daughter being in the hospital...she's a heart and kidney patient...and some fraud, I decided to close my account and just pay them out. Problem is that now I'm getting calls threatening me with defrauding a financial institution...criminal charges...felonies...."pay all this now or we go to court"...I'm not sure what companies are legal and which ones aren't...This is a rundown...

1/20 VIP Loanshop brwd 300/ pd 675

3/31 CMG Group brwd 200/ pd 60
Also got harrassed into paying 116 last week with treats of court...

4/15 JHS Marketing brwd 300/ pd 90

4/16 SGQ LTD brwd 300/ pd 90
Also harrassed last week with threats...pd 25, supposed to pay another 145 b4 end of month....or court...

4/22 Discount Advances brwd 200/ pd 0

4/29 Sandpoint Capital brwd 200/ pd 0

5/5 Lakota Cash brwd 300/ pd 0

A lady called me Thursday about JUS and Sandpoint and said she'd recieved complaints from both of them...that I could pay it out together, but I had to pay 120 upfront, then 70 monthly. None of them are willing to accept lower payments. What should I do??

Your payday loan laws are at the link below:
http://www.paydayloaninfo.org/stateinfo/AR.asp
Payday loans are legal as long as they are licensed somewhere, I can tell you for sure that the following lenders are NOT licensed to lend anywhere:
Discount Advances
I highly doubt most of the other ones are either, but you need to do some research because my time is limited today. Type their names into the search box located in the upper right hand corner of this forum, read what others have said. Also, do some checking at the link below,
http://www.paydayloaninfo.org/stateinfo.asp
Scroll down and click on the state you want to check, once you see the payday loan laws, scroll down again and click on the licensee data base. Since Delaware has a lax law, a lot of payday lenders will get a license there, other states to check are; NV., and Utah. Those are the most likely states lenders will be licensed in.

As far as I can tell, none of them are licensed in my state, DE, or UT. The page for the NV search isn't working...also, 4 of the companies have sent it to collections and I'll be sending out those DV letters to them. One of the companies is PDM, but I've got to get the name and contact info of the companies, cause they haven't told me anything except that they'll take me to court if I don't pay....now! Also, as I was looking at the laws for AR, I noticed that it said criminal charges could be filed if the item was returned due to a closed account...which it was. Wish I had seen the posts about revocation of ACH b4 I done that!! Thanks so much for the advice!

Ok, now I have a new question...these collection agencies have scared me into setting up payment arrangements on what I couldn't pay upfront, this was last week....now I'm sending DV letters and are wondering if I have to make any more payments b4 I get validation? What can they do to me if I default? And also, if the loan was illegal, and the CA has bought my account, can they still legally collect?
