I made the mistake of taking a loan with Loan Point USA last year. I overpaid on this account.

Yesterday I received a letter from some "law" firm called The Farrell Law Group. They are claiming I now owe $570. The original loan was for $400.

Problem is the payday loan mess I got into ended up with me getting a charged off checking account. I banked online and now cannot see my statements so I can't be sure exactly how much I paid them.

I will contact my old bank, I guess.

What should I do about this law firm's letter? I understand loan point USA are not licensed to lend anywhere? I am in Texas.

that's funny a search shows the FARREL LAW GROUP as being immigration and real estate lawyers.this sounds like a scam using a firm's name.check your DFI website,or your AG website.anyplace including law firms must post a bond with either office before even attempting collections.i doubt you will find this place either licensed or bonded.btw what address is on the letter.either way get a DV letter sent CMRRR right away.you see in texas if you send the DV letter they have a set in stone 30days to validate,or they have to drop it entirely.get the leeter out,and either watch them go away or you can sue them yourself.
