I live in nj and i have 5 payday loans and I need to know what to do next. i have been reading the forums and so far I have closed my bank account I have faxed all the lenders. I have only heard from 3 of them so far (calls from eastside lenders and united cash loans, and an email from money to advance) they only left me a message to call about my account. The lenders are Eastside Lenders $575.00 I paid so far $690.00; money 2 advance also called community credit services $400.00 I paid back so far $620.00; United cash Loans $250.00 I paid $225.00; Integrity Advance $600.00 I paid $144.00; Cash advance network $500.00 I have paid $150.00. I know I am responsible for the principle on three of these and I also put in my c&d letter that i want a refund for the ones I over paid. Just want to know what to do next. Will they garnish my check or take me to court.

I also live in NJ, and have fallen into the PDL pit. I am using a company called Relief, LLC (sorry if its against policy to use the name). I seem to have paid them less than other posters who use a restructuring or consolidation company, but they sent those letters out for me immediately. Now I see I could have handled the whole mess by myself but I didn't find this forum until afterwards. You probably know by now, but PDL's are prohibited in NJ. Therefore, there is not much they can do to you , legally, and if you don't let yourself be intimidated by them, you can get through this with your sanity intact.

I don't know for sure, but if these lenders are not licensed in nj, and they won't be because they are illegal, there is not much the court can do for them. Personally, I just want to pay back the principal on my loans and never do this again!!

Good luck to you.

Sorry, I didn't realize I was quoting but I see that when I click on answer it, the original post is quoted in the new one. Won't make that mistake again!

thanks i am just a little nervous as to what they can do. I havent returned any of their calls yet at the time i have no funds to even make a payment arrangement with them. But hopefully this week i can do that. I also tried to register myself as a member on here and it shows my full name is there any way to change that does anyone know how? When it asked for the full name i assumed that you had to put it then i noticed others didn't have it like that.

"...thanks i am just a little nervous as to what they can do."

In two words....absolutely nothing.

Internet-based PDL corporations are illegal in the State of NJ. Sure, they can call you at all hours of the day and make empty threats...but at the end of the day, that's where it pretty much begins and ends. Pay back the principal, and call it a day.

Actually, it makes me wonder....has an internet-based PDL company (such as MTE or Geneva Roth Capital) ever successfully sued someone for not paying them back?
