I just learned from Bank of America that they sold my account to Collect Corp. I had posted last week that Collect Corp. withdrew money from my account after I revoked ACH authorization. I had sent them certified letter requesting that they provide me with proof they are legal to collect in New Jersey and proof that they legally held my account. Received the card back; but no answer. I had also sent them a counter-offer, RRR, but no answer.

So my question is what happens now?? Will they be able to sue me? Account balance is $13,500. It's one of the accounts I couldn't come up with money to settle with Bank of America.

What should I do next?

Long story. CollectCorp. proceeded to debit my account twice. I was on vacation and found out I had no money in my account, so I went to TD Bank and had it reversed and closed account. (I learned a valuable lesson here. Even if you send revocation of ACH, you still need to close your account). I wrote a letter to CEO of Bank of America and his assistant graciously got in touch with me. The account was yanked from CollectCorp. and sent to another collector with whom I negotiated a settlement. I am in the process of suing CollectCorp. for numerous violations. I have a pit-bull consumer advocate attorney here in NJ.

It's not that I want the $1000 - it's the principal - that they cleaned my account out while I was on vacation with my grandchildren (had to have money wired to me).

Anyway, both my BofA accounts have been settled and paid. Oh, BofA just assigned the debt, it wasn't bought.
