Whelp, after sitting on hold forever with Credit Protection Depot I was told that they are marking my one loan that they hold (which is interesting they "hold" it now since it is not past due, defaulted or anything) as PAID IN FULL! YAHOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! She told me that I had to contact Paydaymax about the refund I am requesting on the interest charges paid on the other loans.

So they "wrote off" the remaining $350 I had not yet paid on the $750 loan --- though the balance was really $825.30 with interest, I had paid $400 thus far. I think they know they cannot charge us interest as they are doing business in our states illegally ---- which is why they do not press the point if they know you are law and regulation saavy???

Now I am going to start bugging paydaymax about the remaining $677.10 that THEY owe me. ;) I already put in letters with the Atty General and the BBB.

Thanks for all of your advice - this forum is PRICELESS! It is helping SO many of us to get our lives back and get our finances back on track...man it is crazy how one bad mistake can eat you alive for months and month on end!

Will keep you posted on the refund hunt....LOL

THanks...step two won't be so easy.....I just spoke with a manager at paydaymax and he said that they cannot give refunds there and he has to speak with a manager at CPD....he is supposed to call me back within 30 mins. (no I won't hold my breath)

Unfortunately they don't know how stubborn I am....my dad was a redhead! I won't just go away....LOL

OK so now I have to send letter to Canada....that is the only place that can authorize the refund, I am told by managers at both paydaymax and CPD. I called the number I was given and it asks you to leave a message, so I went ahead and sent a fax from Kinko's to the number and am sending a letter with return receipt. We shall see what happens.....am guessing I may never see that money....we shall see!

Kimmyksu76-I owe Paydaymax too so was wondering...you still owed principal on your loan and they are writing it off? Or did I misunderstand this? I borrowed $500 in July and the first rollover was 8/20 and then I am paying the second rollover tomorrow of $90 and want to send them the letters next week once I close my bank. I am in California and know they are illegal here...please any help would be fantastic on how to deal with them. Many thanks!

Getting a refund from paydaymax is really tough. It's like money flows one way!!! When you apply for a loan, they will send it in 24 hrs. But when you ask for a refund, it's different ball game altogether. Have you complained against them with your states' Attorney General and the FTC?

Sunshine - I had numerous loans in the past 6 months or so - all in all I had paid OVER the principle amount...even though my last loan that was open showed a balance due. So they "wrote off" that loan and then directed me to the parent company in Canada in regards to the refund.

How much have you paid them in all? You only owe them $500 total if they are illegal in your state.....I faxed the C&D letter to them last friday and here we are a week later and the debt is forgiven....now to get my overpayment back!

I have put in complaints with my atty general as well as the BBB, yes.

PS - I did not close my bank account - I just called my bank and told them that paydaymax is NOT authorized to take out any debits and they put a block on them for me.....I have too many automatic bills, etc, in my account to mess with changing our act right now. (my hubby and my direct deposits, household bills, etc) My bank is great about reversing charges that are disputed, so I am not too concerned.

By tomorrow, I would've paid $193(with the original loan of 500). I am in the middle of paying off most of my other PDLs but have Paydaymax, Eastside and Advance me now to deal with in the next couple of weeks. I dont want to close my account either so I figure since I dont have the principal to offer these companies right now is to deal with them one by one and send a letter. Figured this way by the time I finished dealing with one, the next pdl I would be close to or have paid off the interest and maybe just maybe since they would have had the princial paid off that they would be willing to dismiss my loan quicked than if I havent paid any of principal.....wishful thingking maybe on my part

Well hang in there --- you CAN overcome this hurdle with due diligence! We all found ourselves in a predicament we didn't intend to, but this forum is such a wonderful help in trying to dig yourself out of the hole - these folks have experience and can give great advice!

Good news for me --- I had faxed the letter to canada at noon and recieved a call by 3pm stating my refund would be sent last nite via ACH. Course I won't believe it until I see it - but it is encouraging that things seem to be moving.....cross your fingers it arrives today! (seems too good to be true!)
