I have closed my account and sent C&D emails. Should I attempt to ask my bank to credit the debits from the illegal PDL's for the last 60 days? I have several that given what I've read here won't give a refund (Ameriloan and Cash Jar). I'm not expecting it, but I wasn't sure if it's a wise thing to do. BTW, I'm in MD and PDL's are definitely illegal.

Thanks

Others here can probably advise you better than I can about what to do re. asking your bank to credit the debits (I would think it would depend in large part of which bank you're dealing with?); have you also contacted the Dept. of Financial Regulation in Baltimore about your PDL's? Their phone number and address are listed in the MD State PDL laws on this site. They can give you some assistance in getting out of the PDL trap.

It wouldn't hurt to try, except I would go into the bank armed. Print out a copy of your pdl laws and any complaints you have already submitted, ask to speak directly to the branch manager (no one else will do). The more documented information you have proving these pdl's are not legitimate, the better your chances of getting a refund.
