I acquired a loan through American Web Loan in the amount of $700 in April of 2012. As I was not able to pay back the entire amount, they deducted $200 from my checking account bi-weekly for a total of $1400, until I was unable to work due to having surgery. I e-mailed them and explained the situation, and they said I could miss one payment, but to call customer service. Problem is, when you call you are put on hold. FOREVER. I tried calling back and choosing the option to take a new loan out (just to get a human on the line) and was transferred again just to be put on hold. My account has since been closed. Furthermore, when I sent bank records for the loan to prove income, I explained that while I made a certain amount, the total household income was higher due to being the payee for my son's SSDI checks. They said this income could be included for consideration of the loan amount (?) but since researching the subject, I don't think this is legal. I live in Ohio, and I've read that I am obligated only for the principal. Is this true? I am (of course) receiving calls that warrants will be issued for my arrest and so on, and from what I understand, I cannot be arrested either. Is this also true? Thanks for your help.

You can't be arrested for not paying a bill, especially not an illegal one. If you're late on a credit card bill does the sheriff come to your house with a warrant? I don't think so.

This is an illegal lender and should be treated as such.
