Hello and before I begin thank you for reading this.
About a year ago I fell to the trap and took a PDL($200) with Emerald marketing. After taking a pay hit at work and their constant charge of the interest on my account week after week(against regulations in Arizona btw) I finally looked to here for answers and found. I closed my bank account (BofA) and sent them a documented letter that they were an illegal and unlicensed lender in this state and that I would be revoking the ACH payments.
My issue is I now have them calling my work, which I revoked their right to call under FDCPA, which they have apparently ignored, and they have also called my mother whose number I did not provide to them threating to have her arrested for not providing my contact info to them.
Recently they have gotten a hold of my contact info somehow and just the other day left a message from a "Mr. Alvee Nelson" claiming to be from BofA and that they were filing paperwork with my county court for wage garnishment for about $1200. Of course I freaked out, called BofA to see what was up and they had no record or idea what I was talking about. My account that was closed is still closed with 0 balance. So I looked up the call back number provided and sure enough, it was EMG. The day after that I received an email from this Alvee Nelson from EMG claiming that I owe nearly 3 times the amount of the original loan in NSF and late fees. And last night I received another call that was literally the exact same as the previous but instead of $1200 it was for $2000.
My question is what can I do about this? Are they able to threaten wage garnishment and could they legally file for it here in Arizona? I have well more than paid for the original principal of the loan in the form of the interest payments they continued to charge my account.
TL;DR: Im from Arizona, Emerald Marketing is threating jail and wage garnishment. Can they?
Thank you very much again for your time,
Someone who has been enlightened about the PDL scam.

No, they can't legally file in your state, read the link below.

They are an illegal lender, you need to close your account because it will never be safe again, illegal lenders sell off their customers information to other Internet criminals.

They can't garnish your wages with a court order and that will never happen, they can impose a wage assignment though, pdl's usually stick a clause in their contract that states if the customer defaults they agree to allow the pdl to take the funds from your paycheck, the good news is, it's revocable at any time, but when you email them a letter stating you no longer give them permission to use the wage assignment make sure you date it, print it out and take the copy to your employer.
